What does guilt means?
What is guilt?
Guilt is an emotional response to a situation that one considers negative and is associated with the concept of good and evil.
We can all experience something and after self-examination consider that we did not do the right thing, move on and learn from it.
On the contrary, there are times when it seems that we are stuck with an emotion, in this case, guilt.
The person who carries guilt may experience that anything could have been done better, or that any mistake is a cause of suffering, also, could experience a constant demand on their part because it seems that what they do is never good enough and therefore they reproach and disqualify themselves. They may even perceive themselves as unworthy or dirty.
Guilt demands to be cleansed of our faults, therefore the person may experience a constant need for punishment.
However, this is only a conflict with a single emotion, guilt. And like any emotional conflict, it has a way out.
The person who constantly carries guilt can begin to work on accepting to live the experiences of his life without judging them, and understand that every experience is full of sense, meaning and purpose and that therefore from every experience one can learn and grow as a person, thanks to the understanding that the experiences one lives, go beyond the concept of good and evil.
